‘Getting Real’ is Saraphir Camille’s first EP. It features acoustic versions of five songs she wrote during lockdown. From the importance of creativity and taking chances in life, to climate change, disability and stammering, they all challenge commonly held biases or ask us to wake up in some way. Saraphir Camille’s style is contemporary folk touching on other genres – such as rap/spoken word – and several of these songs are protest songs. The EP was recorded with and mixed by Chris Greive and mastered by Mattie Foulds.
Comments on the EP include:
“Great original songs with thought-provoking lyrics.”
“In the best of the folk tradition, thought-provoking lyrics.”

GETTING REAL
There was a celebration of the EP/CD coming out on the 12th November with Saraphir Camille playing songs on and off the EP live and time to connect, chat and eat and drink. Feedback from the event include:
“Brave, beautiful songs! Lovely melodies and witty lyrics about current and personal issues: dating, the earth, disability, self-doubt and self-realisation. The common theme running through them: the strength we can find in vulnerability.”
“Saraphir treated us to a beautiful performance of her songs in the concert she gave to celebrate the production of her first EP. The concert songs were a selection taken from the EP and also other favourites from her repertoire. Her compositions have catchy tunes and thoughtful enchanting lyrics which are well constructed, often with a serious message or humorous reflection on life.”
